Immigration carefully reviews your financial documentation, and insufficient financial proof is one of the most common reasons for application denial.

From submitting your documents to us to receiving your visa, the process typically takes 3 to 5 months. The longest part is waiting for the Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) from Japanese immigration, which alone can take 2-3 months.

The Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) application process can take 2-3 months. After CoE issuance, visa stamping takes a few weeks. We recommend starting the application process at least 4-6 months before your desired arrival date.

No, Japanese language ability is not a requirement to apply for the visa or to start your calligraphy course. Our classes are beginner-friendly and support is available in English. However, demonstrating an interest in Japanese culture and some basic language skills can be beneficial for your visa application.

You typically need to show proof of at least ¥3,000,000 for a one-year course, or ¥1,500,000 for a six-month course. This is to demonstrate you can cover your tuition fees, living expenses, accommodation, and return travel for the entire duration of your stay without working.

While we have a high success rate, denials can happen. In the rare case of a denial, we will work with you to understand the reason. If you paid tuition fees after CoE issuance, they are refundable (minus a processing fee).

It is possible, but not guaranteed. You would need to find an employer willing to sponsor you for a work visa and then apply for a 'Change of Status of Residence' at the immigration office in Japan before your Cultural Activities visa expires.
